Casualties in the American Revolutionary War
In The American revolutionary war the exact number of deaths is unknown but we know that The disease Smallpox took more lives than any battle. The estimated amount of deaths due to Smallpox was 130,000 people. There were an estimated 25,000 American soldiers who died. 8,000 of them came from in battle deaths and the other 17,000 deaths came from disease, however these numbers aren't very accurate and it is believed more soldiers died from disease and starvation.
There were and estimated 171,000 British soldiers in the American Revolutionary war and an estimated 1,200 died in battle. Another 18,000 died due to diseases the main causer being Scurvy. About 1,200 German soldiers were killed and about 6,500 died due to disease. About 16,000 German soldiers returned home whilst the other remained in The US eventually becoming American Citizens.
